I can’t help but feel that to some extent, we’re reaping what we’ve been sowing as a society. We said to God, “Get out of the public arena.” Lawsuit after lawsuit, often by misguided “civil libertarians,” have chased away any fear of God in the land — at least in the hearts of millions.

I do feel sorry for them. Worshipping a God that is so namby-pamby that civil libertarians and courts can chase him away must be very embarrassing.

  just the first of many that will point fingers…. texASS representative louis gohmert and pASStor rick warren have also chimed in blaming the teaching of evolution for the shooting as well as the lack of the fear of hell. there is no end to their ignorance, but far worse is the fact that many go along with these clowns, 48% of right-wing christians thought is was god who caused the haitian earthquake as retribution for their non-christian heathen ways…. 48% thats scary !!

I tend to agree that acts such as the Colorado shooter are evidence that our society is reaping what it has sown. I disagree that the seeds we have sown are represented by maintaining a healthy separation between church and state. Rather, I see the seeds as being society’s fascination with violence as a form of entertainment and the lack of dignity and value that we show each other. Look at the political rhetoric. Look at many of the programs on television. While I am a firm believer in free speech, I am constantly disappointed in the media messages fail to appeal or even address the positive that is present in each of us. Rather, they seem to send a message that people are not to be valued and honored but are to be used for the entertainment and specticle of others. With that prevalent enviroment, is it a surprise that someone snaps and acts out those emotions?

  I think the point of many of us is, before we *actually* know what the cause is, let’s not start pointing fingers. Because, really, blaming the media or video games for the actions of one person holds as little water as blaming the lack of god in society for something like this. After all, if you look at the virginia tech shooter, he sought the violent media after his maltreatment of racism, not before.
