A Hell House of our own

October is here and Halloween is coming up, and so along with Trick or Treat comes the less pleasant prospect of the Christian Hell House.

There is little I have to say about adults of genuine good will exposing young minds to lies and gross exaggerations about liberals and nonbelievers, illustrated by visceral horrors, and doing so sincerely ‘for their own good.’ Let that description serve as my commentary.

Far be it from me to dispute the effectiveness of assaulting emotion, particularly fear, in the mission of capturing children for their god.

No indeed. Rather, I think it would be a fine idea to create a Hell House of our own, with a focus on Christian beliefs and their consequences.*

In a project like that, we would enjoy one insurmountable advantage: while the Christians must constantly lie, we would simply take the faithful at their word, remove the chains of secularism and the wall of separation betwixt church and state, and let their insanity play itself out.

I’m sure we all carry memories of talking with or hearing a speech from a true believer, the sort of thing that made you realize the only thing more horrific than being in the presence of such a mind was being in its power.

I was actually going to sit down and outline an entire tour through my version of a hell house, stocked with scenes depicting the hell on Earth the faithful are intent on creating, but I’ve had a rough week and work, and really don’t feel like putting myself through that, so why not let you guys do it?

So, come up with some scenarios.

Modern witch hunts? Interrogating the guests in a modern witch trial, complete with ‘implements’ and the twitching remains of those who had undergone the purging?

Perhaps the re-institution of slavery? Nuclear war based on the presumption of Biblical prophecy? Praying over a dying child rather than seeking medical aid? The torture and murder of the mentally ill (aka: exorcism)?

The Constitution re-written and nonbelievers regulated to the status of second class citizens since, ya know, the laws and rights of the US of A were made for Christians only and nonbelievers aren’t fully human and need to be ‘protected’ from sinful and demonic influences (kinda like dhimmi)?

The Christians display pictures of abortions? Show them a homosexual child so brutalized by this life and tormented by thoughts of the next that they wish with all their heart they had been aborted.

You may use neither exaggeration nor slander. The atrocity can be as grotesque as you feel necessary, but it must be something a Christian has done, advocated, supported, excused, or expressed approval to see done. No lies. No slander. And you must show the justification. Other than that: go crazy. Hold nothing back. Let no misguided politeness stop you, for it won’t stop our enemies.

Remember, it’s for their own good.

*I considered a Muslim Hell House too, but that’s too easy

There also needs to be a room of christian kids and adults driving gay (or perceived-gay) kids to suicide.

a parent and/or clergyperson telling a child that their non-christian friends, i.e. jewish, sihk, or anybody not saved by Jesus, though they seem like good people to the child, will in fact be damned to hell when they die.

Gay concentration camps, Charles Worley-style. One person could be shoved into the gate shouting, “But I’m straight, just an atheist!” Or we could look at the nuclear wreck that was once Dearborn, Michigan, wiped out due to high Muslim population.

You could show a young woman being forced into a marriage and told it’s god’s will and if she doesn’t obey she’ll never see her father again (she’s been told he’s in heaven), or show a teenage boy who had been told all his life that if he becomes a preacher god will then cure him of his illness otherwise he’ll die.

Allowing a woman to die in childbirth because she wasn’t permitted a late term abortion.
Arresting a woman for assault for having a coffee or sushi during pregnancy.
Arresting a woman and taking away her child for saying no to a c-section.

“Once upon a time, not so long ago.” This halo-ween I’m going dressed as that Bardstown Kentucky Sheriff with tattoo on arm that reads KKK and talk about nigger hunts, tar and feathering, lynching and explain why for a five mile per hour speeding fine ($20.00) you’ll have to stay in jail until courts open on Monday because the good people of this town are God fearing and at church.
Google Check “Bardstown Kentucky” the town manages to get Bourbon and religion into the first paragraph.
If I went dressed as a KKK I would only get lost in the crowd.

  I used to think Fred Phelps from WBC was just another evangelical nutbar until I saw a video of him. He’s a raving f**cking lunatic and should be locked up, I’m sure some of what he says must constitute hate crimes.

    IMO the public disturbances that most of the Phelps family create should definitely be considered hate crimes. I say “most of” the family because a few of them have disowned themselves from the so-called church, and have spoken out about their hateful family.
    
    It’s amazing that so many of the most hateful members are law school graduates, and actually passed the bar exams. How could a person with a brain believe that wild-eyed sh*t?

Do jehova’s witnesses count? Let’s have a child dying because his/her parents refuse to allow them a blood transfusion, requiring a child to die for a belief that they are not even really competent to choose for themselves yet. Or just generalize it to a crazy family letting a child die of any disease as they choose to decline proven life-saving medicine in favor of prayer.

My Jehovah’s Witless sister (age 67) “has to” sit in the back yard, as far from the front door as she can get…no matter what the weather…till the trick-or-treaters all go home. She’s afraid that little kids dressed up as fairy princesses and fuzzy animals will contaminate her non-existent soul.
