  • kingkenobi

did you mean “let god in”? last part of the first speech bubble seems incomplete

    • heathenveganoz

No, “Let go and let God” is a common saying from the religious, and however you interpret it, it’s a scary idea.

      • kingkenobi

It’s not scary, it’s just laziness incarnate.

      • moongrimm

No different than the scary notion of reinventing monikers for sea life.

  • freethinkin franklin

i think you misheard your clergymen.. he said “let go and let him” he only wanted you to move your hand so he could apply what he learned from his elders in seminary school…..

    • heathenveganoz

It’s strange that they didn’t try to hide their intentions more… seminary.. semenary…

  • moongrimm

Nice bit of empty alliteration. The same level of meaningless that is often spouted by PETA: Don’t eat the Sea Kittens.

    • heathenveganoz

Really? You’re comparing being told to let your imaginary friend take control to a slogan asking you not to eat real animals? I’m not defending PETA (especially their attempt to re-brand fish as kittens), but that is one of the worst analogies I’ve ever seen.

      • moongrimm

If you’re not defending them, why are you getting upset?

There is no such thing as a “sea Kitten”. It’s an attempt by a semi- terroristic organization (also hypocritical, like yourself) to reimagine fish as a kitten and attempt to make itself relevant.
        Also like yourself.

        • heathenveganoz

A “sea-kitten” is obviously a metaphor for a real thing – fish. Whereas god is absolutely imaginary. I know you have problems with these kinds of things (metaphors, analogies), but really.. that’s just weak.

          • freethinkin franklin

oh i see so the “metaphoric” fact that the pope proclaimed that a beaver was a fish so the faithful could eat a giant rat during lent is OK??? I’ll stick with reality and facts thank you…. now pass thw A-1 please…..

          • heathenveganoz

The beaver/fish thing was not a metaphor, it was clearly a cheat to class one biological group as another (not that “fish” is a biological group with any meaning, anyway).

          • moongrimm

No, it was not meant to be a “metaphor”. It was an attempt to reinvent fish as being cuddly and cute.

Leave it to a vegetarian to justify the unjustifiable.

          • moongrimm

Fish are fish. So tell me oh wise one, what is an ovo-lacto vegetarian?

Or a piscine vegetarian? You and I know the answer. But unlike you, I can handle reality.

          • heathenveganoz

Fish ARE cuddly and cute, and intelligent, and social. You should aspire to be more like them.
A pesco-vegetarian is someone that, like you, doesn’t understand English. Fish are not vegetables.

      • moongrimm

        Addendum:
        http://www.petakillsanimals.com/

How the Vegans at Peta are hypocrites.

        • heathenveganoz

I’m not upset, I’m amused. Your analogy was incredibly weak. You’re trying to equate two things that have no similarity at all. Your goal is obviously just to bait me into another argument.

And, I wouldn’t exactly trust that source. The CCF (the group that runs that site) is a lobby group set up by the meat, fast food, alcohol and tobacco industries. They have a vested interest.

          • freethinkin franklin

not quite sure why it should of any concern to you what i/we eat or don’t eat… its of the same relevance, none, as to who you love/sleep with…. it is of zero relevance to me, and a handle bragging about my hetero stance would be nothing but bragging on the irrelevant. hmmm.. hetero-omnivore Franklin… does that work for you? BTW when did this become the food blog… I’m just here out of concern that the theists are going to eat us and our kids along with their future…. fight about who eats what elsewhere, as if it matters, last i knew we had to eat and drink in order to fight another day… no?? eyeballin that ham winston :-)

          • heathenveganoz

I can’t reply to you (freethinkin franklin) directly, because your reply was the deepest (nesting) this forum allows. Why was that aimed at me? I didn’t make any comment whatsoever about what you should or should not eat (in this thread). Moongrim is the one trying to spread that argument all over the place, instead of leaving it in the one thread in the forum where it began.

My argument on this particular thread was that Moongrim’s was a piss-weak analogy. He then detoured and dragged extraneous crap into the argument, to which I retorted. Do you disagree?

          • heathenveganoz

This is a handle I have used for a long time. It does not tell you what to do, it describes me. If that offends you, or makes you insecure, that is your problem, not mine.

          • moongrimm

When you choose time and again to espouse a failed diet, and go so far as to ignore ample evidence that vegetarianism is on the same level as homeopathy, then you’re as fraudulent as the priests.
There is nothing metaphorical about Sea Kittens, there is nothing metaphorical about Letting Go and Letting God.
Fish are edible. I will eat them with relish. As do billions of further mature individuals.

          • moongrimm

And yet here you are projecting your own insecurities onto me.

          • moongrimm

Who cares about the CCF? People have been smoking tobacco, eating fish and animals for millenia before they existed.

Yet PETA kills hundreds of the very animals they pretend to be protecting. The CCF, unlike vegetarians, are honest in their endeavors.

          • heathenveganoz

            - “Time and again” = once, in the forum. Again with the hyperbole.
            - Vegetarianism is not a science or a belief system, it is a diet. Homeopathy is believing water “remembers” something you put in it a couple hundred dilutions ago and has the same (or greater) healing power.
            - Who cares about the CCF? If you wanted honest facts about paedophilia, you’d hardly ask the catholic church, would you – they have a vested interest.
            - I’m not projecting anything – the fact you can’t grasp the basic fundamentals of English (or logic) has nothing to do with any of my insecurities.

          • heathenveganoz

Kittens are edible, too. Nice rebuttal, try and prove something isn’t a metaphor by showing a similarity between the two subjects.

          • heathenveganoz

And I wouldn’t say billions eat fish with relish, I’d say most of them eat them with chips. Bwahaha.

  • Kaelyn

Oh, too beautiful! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard that in chemical dependency circles. After all AA was founded in part by a minister. Reminds me of George Carlin, (paraphrase) If God really felt we shouldn’t masturbate he would have given us shorter arms!

  • Kaelyn

Bill Mahr made a comment that if the Pope can quit, it’s ok for other Catholics to just, quit! He did a whole monologue about it, commenting about how groups hostile to women typically wind up with child perversions. He also suggested Pope Hillary, and Pope Oprah (Poprah). Woohoo!!

  • The Atheist Pig

Any more bickering about vegans/vegetarians/fish/kittens and I’m going to get the Flying Spaghetti Monster to lash you with his noodle appendages.

    • heathenveganoz

And I would be honoured to be touched by his noodley appendage!
